What is a "Master" in the Martial Arts?
Here are a few examples below that have greatly influenced my training in one way or another. These are "Masters" of the Martial Arts. (there are many more, but here are just a few)
These are individuals that have paved a lot of roads for the rest of us to drive on. In regards to my own training, some of the roots have traces to those pictured above. Not that I personally trained under any of them, although I would of loved to have had the opportunity !!! They are founders and forefathers of some of the disciplines I have been involved with in my prior and current years of study.
Who am I ? .....Well, nothing compared to the above.
I am a Martial Art expert / enthusiast who enjoys everybit of what Martial Arts offer. Regardless of style, history or origin. I am always seeking new techniques to blend with old techniques. Teaching students & being a student myself. I have studied various disciplines including but not limited to; Tae Kwon Do, Tang Soo Do, Aikido, Hapkido, Jujitsu, Judo, Jeet Kune Do, Kickboxing, Kung Fu. Have I mastered all of these........NO !! Certainly not. But I have been fortunate to have experience in multiple martial arts. Each system has its pros and cons. These are different pending on the student. This is why there is NO SUCH THING as one superb art or discipline. It is ultimatly the student behind the art that makes it what it is. I have developed a system of various elements containing applications blended from all the disciplines mentioned above and more !! I truly enjoy every aspect of it. Including teaching others that wish to experience what I have to offer and help introduce them to the vast world of Martial Arts.
Will I ever be amongst the pictures above? Who knows. You never know where life will decide to throw you. However, for now........if there is one thing that I may share or pass on to someone that may make their Martial Arts better or have a positive impact on their lives, then I am comfortable with that. This, in my opinion, is what makes it all worth it. To my family for putting up with all my time traveling here and there for the love of the Arts, I am very greatful. To most of those I have worked with or studied under - Thank You. ( I say that because there is only ONE individual that I have witnessed create much turmoil and walked with a closed mind. To me this individual demonstrated values and actions that I felt were wrong and discredited the Martial Art community and is full of deception. - therefore he has been RESCINDED. )
And of course to all my students both past and present ! My martial arts and abilities would not be what it is today without the experience and help from all of you. THANK YOU ALL.
